I enjoy procrastinating. Don’t you?
I fill up my spare time when I should be writing doing a “quick” sudoku. Then feel cheated when I solve it too quickly, and annoyed when I can’t solve it easily.
Then there’s Duo Lingo. Hours can be spent running out of hearts. Just when I think its all over with only one heart remaining, I hit a lucky break and get nothing wrong.
Then there’s social media. Graham Norton gets me every time on Insta with his quick clips of fascinating celebs. AI knows the ones I like.
And all the writer’s blogs, the groups, the tips and hints. AND the recipes. AND the people teaching French, how to say things like a real French speaker.
And oh, the beautiful young woman who lives in a tiny Parisian apartment, shops for perfect fresh ingredients at local markets, and whips up a delectable tarte tatin using her stylish antique kitchenware in a miniscule oven.
A quick crossword, finished too quickly. A dash to the loo. Then I’ll make a coffee, and while waiting the 30 seconds for the machine to heat up, I’ll give the kitchen floor a quick vacuum and unpack the dishwasher.
I have the vacuum cleaner out, so I’ll do the bathroom floor too.
But wait! The sun’s out. The rain has subsided. Better walk Rubi now before the rain comes again.
Back from the walk, it’s time to settle in and write a scene for my first draft.
But here I sit, after having done two sudokus and scrolling on my phone, writing about procrastination.
